Jesus said, “But when the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth, (John 16:13).
To be led by “God the Holy Spirit” requires being so fully in harmony with Him that every action is a result of His counsel and promptings.
The Holy Spirit is a guide for the Children of God, and those who follow His guidance will find an exciting, adventurous life.
There are many instances in the Bible where the Holy Spirit gave the apostles orders that affected both their personal and Spiritual lives.
To Receive His Guidance, You Must be Born Again:
“For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.” (Rom 8:13-15).
To be led by the Spirit requires a deep, personal relationship with the Lord Jesus. The best way to do this is by reading His Word and praying every day. Strive to keep Him on your mind continually.
Practicing the Presence of God:
I have a book entitled, “Practicing the Presence of God.” It is a helpful little book, (perhaps still available). I have found that merely recalling the title helps me to maintain a conscious thought of His presence.
Jude tells us: “Dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith. Let the Holy Spirit guide and help you when you pray.” (Jude 1:20).
Below is a link to a true story of how God chose to speak to me at a very inopportune time, (but with a sense of humor). Years later, He again spoke to me through the same Scripture with a lesson I will never forget: By the Waters.
God is intensely interested in all that you do; He knows your next words before they are on your lips, (Psa 139). He knows the number of hairs on your head, (Luke 12:7); and He wants to be a part of your life, and to guide you in all your ways.
Seek Him with all your might, “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you…” (James 4:8).
God can Lead, Guide, and Intervene
Since you have been born again, you have received the Holy Spirit; this means He abides within you and will continually lead you through the rest of your life on earth.
It is not at all unusual to see news reports of people who have been spared death because of an unction, or desperate feeling, that caused them to decide not to get on a plane that later crashed.
There are many other experiences, such as, some who were miraculously spared in the World Trade Center disaster.
So again, yes, God can and does lead, guide, and intervene in our personal lives, and He will never leave you; in fact, nothing can separate you from the presence of the Holy Spirit. He is there to guide you in every area of your life.
Allow Him to influence your decisions, and to reveal the secret things of God. Begin each day with Him in prayer; then continue the day in observation, (listening with expectation for His guidance). Allow Him to guide and counsel you in all your ways.
Your journey of learning to be led by the Spirit will take a lifetime, and even then, you will have only begun.
- “However, I am telling you nothing but the truth when I say it is profitable (good, expedient, advantageous) for you that I go away. Because if I do not go away, the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you [into close fellowship with you]; but if I go away, I will send Him to you [to be in close fellowship with you], (John 16:7, AMP).
“Lets Teach Our Children to Love”
Why is it so difficult for our educators and society, in general, to understand that love and respect for one another taught from a young age can solve much of the world’s hostility and social problems!
“Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it” (Prov 22:6).
Love is the answer!
True loyalty springs from the heart and is wrapped in love. It is often in our most private moments that true loyalty, or the lack of it, is made known.
