The Week of Jesus’ Crucifixion
“The Betrayal and Arrest of Jesus,” (Jn 18:1-40)
Jesus could have stopped the process at any moment. He was not so much the victim as the Orchestrator of Events.
“Soldiers Mock and Beat Jesus,” (Jn 19:1-16)
Severe scourging often preceded crucifixions. Flogging and scourging almost to the point of death were a part of the death sentence.
“The Crucifixion of Jesus,” (Jn 19:17-27)
Crucifixion was despised by the Jews and considered the most hideous Roman method of execution. It was reserved only for slaves and criminals. According to Deut. 21:23, whoever is hanged on a cross was considered accursed of God.
“The Death of Jesus on the Cross,” (Jn 19:28-42)
The complicated (Old Covenant) system of animal sacrifice was about to be replaced by the sacrifice of the Lamb of God. Jesus would become the final and ultimate sacrifice for sin.
“The Resurrection,” (Jn 20:1-31)
Mary Magdalene sees the empty tomb and two angels – meets Christ outside the grave – tells the other disciples – Jesus and Doubting Thomas.

Why is it so difficult for our educators and society, in general, to understand that love and respect for one another taught from a young age can solve much of the world’s hostility and social problems!
“Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it” (Prov 22:6).
Love is the answer!
True loyalty springs from the heart and is wrapped in love. It is often in our most private moments that true loyalty, or the lack of it, is made known.
